About SOA Membership

SOA welcomes membership from orthopedic surgeons, residents and other healthcare professionals interested in advancing orthopedic care in Somalia.

Membership is subject to SOA terms of reference and once admitted members enjoy access to educational resources, networking opportunities and the chance to contribute to the organization’s mission.

Membership Eligibility:

Any physician possessing an Orthopaedic degree from a recognized institution and registered from the National Health Professional Council (NHPC) is eligible to join SOA. 

All membership applications shall be reviewed and approved by the executive committee of Somali Orthopaedic Association.

Types of Membership:

1. Active Members: Orthopaedic surgeon who has successfully completed his/her training and registered from the NHPC.

Active members have the right to vote and to be elected other than all other membership privileges of the association.

Requirements for Active membership: Membership application form, Passport sized photo, Academic documents and Registration fee. 

2. Associate Members: a trainee / resident in a recognized orthopaedic training program;  Associate members have all other privileges of membership except they can’t vote nor elected.

3. International Members: Foreign Orthopaedic surgeons residing in Somalia or Abroad and interested the association. They have all other privileges of membership except voting and holding Executive committee positions.

4. Honorary Membership: are distinguished orthopaedic surgeons who have contributed to the orthopaedic care and education.
